Gravitational Physics, Gravitational Wave Phenomenology

Gravitational wave detectors such as LIGO can listen with extraordinary sensitivity to far-off events that traditional telescopes cannot see. But since the signals are very faint, clever tricks are needed to detect them in the noise. Using information theory we can determine what can be learned from signals once detected.

This research area provides opportunities for undergraduate research.
